امرتا نے سب سے پہلا خط جو میرے نام لکھا، وہ صرف ایک سطر کا تھا۔ وہ مجھے بمبئی میں موصول ہوا تھا، جب میں شمع اور دہلی کو چھوڑ کر گورودت کے ساتھ کام کرنے کے لیے وہاں گیا تھا وہ ایک سطر یہ تھی ’’بمبئی اپنے آرٹسٹ کو خوش آمدید کہتی ہے۔‘‘ اس خط میں امرتا نے مجھے کسی نام سے مخاطب کیا تھا اور نہ اپنا نام لکھا تھا۔ جس دن وہ خط مجھے بمبئی میں ملا اس دن مجھے لگا تھا، جیسے امرتا کے وجود کا نام بمبئی بھی ہو۔میں امرتا کو بہت سے ناموں سے بلاتا آرہا ہوں، بلاتا ہوں۔ آشی سے لے کر ’’برکتے‘‘ تک کئی نام ہیں مجھے جو بھی خوبصورت لگتا ہے، اسی نام سے میں اسے پکارنے لگتا ہوں۔ جو بھی مجھے مؤثر لگتا ہے، وہی اس کا نام رکھ دیتا ہوں۔ یوں تو گھر میں، رسوئی میں اسے ’’برکتے‘‘ ہی کہہ کر بلاتا ہوں۔ وہ واقعی میری برکت ہے۔ طبیعت کی افتاد سے میں ملازمت نہیں کر سکتا۔ اپنے کاروبار میں کبھی کبھی کم کام بھی ہو جاتا ہے، مگر میں نے کبھی کوئی کمی محسوس نہیں کی۔ برکتے کا لمس پاکر میرا تھوڑا بھی بہت ہو جاتا ہے۔ یہ سبھی خطوط میرا سرمایہ ہیں اور میری دانست میں امرتا کی خود گزشت ’’رسیدی ٹکٹ‘‘ کا ایک حصہ!!
