محمد حفیظ خان ایک معتبر محقق، مؤرخ ،نقاد، ناول نگار، افسانہ نگار، ڈراما نگار، شاعر، کالم نویس اور صحافی کے طور پر منفرد شناخت کے حامل ہیں۔ گذشتہ 51برسوں سے علم وادب کی مختلف اصناف میں گراں قدر اضافہ کا باعث ہوتے ہوئے بھی انھوں نے پیشہ ورانہ لحاظ سے مختلف جہتوں میں ناموری حاصل کی۔ 1980ء میں وکالت سے آغاز کے بعد انھوں نے ریڈیو پاکستان کو بطور پروڈیوسر جائن کیا، بعدازاں جامعاتی سطح پر قانون کے مدرس رہے۔ یکے بعد دیگرے وفاقی اور صوبائی سول سروس کا حصہ رہنے کے بعد ضلعی عدلیہ میں شمولیت حاصل کی جہاں سول جج سے ڈسٹرکٹ اینڈ سیشن جج تک کے مناصب پر فائز رہنے کے علاوہ حکومت ِ پنجاب میں ایڈیشنل سیکریٹری محکمہ قانون و پارلیمانی امور اور پنجاب سروس ٹربیونل کے ممبر اور چیئر مین بھی رہے۔ ملک کے مایہ ناز تربیتی اداروں میںقانون اور ادب کی تدریس بھی اُن کی ذمہ داریوں میں شامل ہیں۔ محمد حفیظ خان اب تک تین مرتبہ ا کادمی ادبیات کے ایوارڈ، پاکستان ٹیلی وژن سے بہترین ڈراما نگار کا ایوارڈ اور قومی سول ایوارڈ ’’تمغۂ امتیاز‘‘ حاصل کر چکے ہیں۔ اکادمی ادبیات کے بورڈ آف گورنرز کی رکنیت، ’’کمالِ فن‘‘ ایوارڈ کی جیوری میں کئی بار کی شمولیت، اکادمی کی اشاعتی کمیٹی، ترجمہ کمیٹی اور وظائف کمیٹی کی رکنیت بھی اُن کے اعزازات میں شامل ہیں۔ ’’پلاک ‘‘کی جانب سے گذشتہ برس اُن کی کتاب ’’پٹھانے خان‘‘ پرشفقت تنویر مرزا ایوارڈ اورنیشنل بک فاؤنڈیشن کی جانب سے انھیں تین مرتبہ ’’کتاب کا سفیر‘‘ بھی مقرر کیا گیا ہے۔ گذشتہ تین برسوں میں اُن کے چار ناولوں ــ ’’ادھ ادھورے لوگ‘‘ ، ’’انواسی‘‘، ’’کرک ناتھ‘‘ اور ’’منتارا‘‘نے قومی سطح پر پذیرائی حاصل کی ہے۔ پندرہ برس تک روزنامہ نوائے وقت، جنگ، نئی بات اور خبریںمیں کالم نگاری کے ساتھ ساتھ حالاتِ حاضرہ کے انگریزی ماہنامہ "The Competitor" کے ایک سو بیس سے زائد شماروں کی اجرائی اورسرائیکی ٹی وی چینلز وسیب اور روہی کے لیے ڈراما سیرئیلز لکھ چکے ہیں۔ نمائندہ ادیب کی حیثیت سے پاکستانی اہلِ قلم کی نمائندگی کرتے ہوئے انھوں نے دو بار چین کا دورہ بھی کیا ہے۔ محمد حفیظ خان کی تحریریں جہاں کلیات اور جامعات کے ادبی نصاب کا حصہ ہیں وہاں اُن کی ادبی خدمات کی مختلف جہتوں پر ایم اے اور ایم فل کے کئی مقالے بھی لکھے جا چکے ہیں۔
