دوسری جنگ عظیم کے بعد چرچل کے مخالفین ان کے بارے میں دو باتیں بہت زورشور سے کہتے تھے۔ ایک یہ کہ وہ ذہنی مریض ہیں اور دوسرے یہ کہ وہ نیم پاگل ہیں۔ چرچل نے اپنے ان نقادوں میں سے کچھ کو گرفتار کروا دیا۔سب طرف شور مچ گیا۔ بات بڑھ گئی ۔ کہا گیا چرچل میں برداشت کی کمی ہے۔ ان سے جواب مانگا گیا تو انہوں نے اپنی مختصر سی تقریر میں کہا، میں نے جو گرفتاریاں کروائی ہیں وہ اس لئے نہیں ہیں کہ ان لوگوں نے میری مخالفت کی ہے بلکہ یہ اس لئے ہیں کہ ان لوگوں نے ایک قومی راز سب پر افشاء کر دیا۔ تالیوں کی گونج میں بات ختم ہوگئی۔
مجھے یہ واقعہ پڑھ کر ہمیشہ خیال آتا ہے کہ کسی بھی بات کو دیکھنے کا اپنا اپنا انداز ہوتا ہے۔ اچھائی برائی کی تمیز خود آپ کی سوچ کرتی ہے۔
چند ہم سفر میں شامل خاکے لکھتے وقت میرے ذہن میں دو باتیں تھیں، پہلی یہ کہ ان شخصیات کے حوالے سے پاکستان میں ٹیلی وژن کی تاریخ کے بعض روشن پہلوؤں کو یاد کیا جائے اور دوسرے یہ کہ ان ہنستے مسکراتے لوگوں کی زندگی کے شگفتہ واقعات پڑھ کر آپ کے چہروں پر مسکراہٹ بکھر جاۓ ۔
اگر یہ کتاب پڑھتے ہوۓ آپ کو کچھ نئی باتیں معلوم ہوئی ہوں یا آپ مسکرا دیئے ہوں تو میں سمجھوں گا کہ میں اپنے مقصد میں کامیاب ہوا۔
