محمد طفیل صاحب جن کا کوئی تخلص نہیں ہے میرے ہم عصروں میں گزر رہے ہیں ان کی خاطر مجھے بےحد عزیز ہے اور میں خود ان کے لیے ’’بارِ خاطر‘‘ کی حیثیت بھی رکھتا ہوں اور ’’یارِشاطر‘‘ کی بھی۔ چناں چہ یہ مجموعہ جو کچھ بھی ہے ان ہی کی ایک فرمائش کی تعمیل ہے۔ ’’غبار خاطر‘‘ دیکھ کر میں نے ازرہِ شامتِ اعمال چند خطوط ان کے رسالہ نقوش کے لیے لکھے تھے، معلوم نہیں وہ کون سی گھڑی تھی جب یہ خطوط لکھے گئے تھے کہ اس جرم کی سزا مجھ کو اور خود طفیل صاحب کو مدتوں بھگتنا پڑی۔ ان کا اصرار کہ میں اسی قسم کے خطوط کا ایک مجموعہ تیار کروں اور میرا اس فرمائش سے فرار۔ مگر آخر اس فرمائش نے فہمائش کی صورت اختیار کر لی اور یہ مجموعہ ہم دونوں کے لیے صحیح معنوں میں بارِخاطر ثابت ہونے لگا۔ آخر خدا خدا کر کے ان مکاتیب کی تحریر کے کام سے فارغ ہو رہا ہوں۔ مجھے صرف یہ عرض کرنا ہے کہ میں نے یہ خطوط ’’غبارِخاطر‘‘ والے مکاتیب کی طرح قلم برداشتہ تو نہیں البتہ دل برداشتہ ضرور لکھے ہیں، اس کے باوجود اگر ان خطوط میں کسی کو کوئی خوبی نظر آجائے تو اس کو میری کرامت نہ سمجھا جائے بلکہ مولانا آزاد کا فیض سمجھا جائے جن کے مکاتیب کی یہ ’’ریڑھ ماری گئی ہے۔‘‘ پیروڈی کا ترجمہ ’’ریڑھ مارنا‘‘ سیّد محمد جعفری سے مجھ تک پہنچا ہے اور وہ راوی ہیں کہ یہ ترجمہ ماجد صاحب کا ہے بہرحال جس کا بھی ہو خوب ہے اور اس مجموعہ کے لیے تو خوب تر!
